Businesses in the cosmetics and beauty industry are usually service-oriented, so it only makes sense that your QuickBooks chart of accounts (COA) is oriented with service-based accounts. Salons and barbershops offer their clients numerous services, including (but of course not limited to) hair cutting and styling, shampooing, tints, highlights, perms, manicures, pedicures, and other such beauty treatments. Some even offer waxing or massage therapy!

To keep track of all of these, you need to have a chart of accounts tailored to your business—and we have just that. Download a free PDF version of our QuickBooks chart of accounts for hair salons, beauty salons, and barbershops!

Furthermore, if you offer a myriad of services, you might want to include income accounts for each, and you can do so with ease!

You can’t forget about expense accounts, either. It is a good idea to have expense accounts for supplies (such as shampoo and conditioner, other products, laundry, and linens), tools (like scissors or clippers), and repairs on equipment (such as hairdryers, barber chairs, and hair washing stations).

If you offer such services, consider adding travel and automobile expense accounts to track your spending!]

We want to help your business thrive, so we don’t just offer a customized COA (which, if you would like, we can customize further for you); we also offer several other services that will help streamline your accounting process.
