QuickBooks Preferences General: My Preferences Part 2

Preferences General

Today we are continuing our coverage of the Preferences General, specifically those located in the My Preferences tab. If you missed out on part 1, click here.

  • Bring back all One-time Messages
    • Turning this option on will turn on all of the messages that originally showed when you first started QuickBooks.
  • Turn off Pop-up Messages for Products and Services
    • Selecting this option will turn off all pop-up messages that inform you of updates to QuickBooks and services that work with QuickBooks in the tab Preferences General.
  • Show ToolTips for Clipped Text
    • When this option is on, a tooltip, which is a pop-up message that displays when you hold your mouse over an object, will appear for any text that is clipped or cut off.
  • Warn when Deleting a Transaction or Unused List Item
    • This option shows a warning message whenever you delete a transaction or unused list item. Turning it off could be dangerous as you may accidentally delete something.
  • Keep QuickBooks Running for Quick Startups
    • This option is a great idea if you constantly use QuickBooks. When you first start your computer QuickBooks will boot up in the background so it is ready when you need it and you will not have to wait for it to load. Keeping QuickBooks open in the background, however, might slow down a lower-end computer.

Check back tomorrow for part 3!
