Double-check Deposits and Checks in QuickBooks

Understanding Reports in QuickBooks

To continue with my report blogging, I want to review the reports included in QuickBooks for deposits and checks. Whether you use QuickBooks for real estate and property management or any industry, reconcile your deposits and checks with your bank statement is important to keep accurate books.

The Deposit Detail report lists each deposit entered in QuickBooks. Let’s say you deposited $100 yesterday, $20 from A, B, and C and $40 from D. It will list each payee, the payment date, and the amount. Then it lists the total amount for that deposit.

The Check Detail report lists each check and breaks down each account affected by the check as well as the amounts paid from each account.

The Missing Checks report lists all checks with missing or duplicate transaction numbers. This helps to double check duplicate entries. When opening this report, choose the bank account for which you want to view the checks.
